Every dizör object follows the same path: it begins as a drawing in Milan and comes out of a single sheet in our Istanbul workshop. There are no welds, screws or separate parts in between; the folds themselves give the form and the strength.
Drawing: Milan
The objects are designed in Milan. Every form starts from the same question: what can be made from a single sheet of stainless steel, only by cutting and folding? The handle is cut from inside the sheet, the edge is curved to stiffen it, the base is formed by a fold. The drawing is calculated around the thickness of the sheet and the order of the folds, because a fold cannot be undone.
Making: Istanbul
Cutting is done by laser, folding on a press brake in a single pass, and the edges are broken and finished by hand. All three steps happen in the same workshop; a piece never leaves the building during production. The person who finishes its edges, brushes its surface and puts it in its box is the same.
Small batches, numbered pieces
The objects are made in small batches. Each piece is laser-marked underneath with its batch number and its sequence within that batch, and arrives with a signed certificate. When a batch sells out the same object can be made again, but the new batch carries its own number. Small refinements between batches mean no two batches are exactly alike.
Material
All objects are made from food-safe AISI 304 stainless steel; grade 316 is made on request for seaside and constantly wet settings. See Materials and finishes for details.
Resurfacing
For scratches or dents that will not come out at home, you can bring or send the piece to the workshop. Resurfacing is a paid service; we quote once we have seen the piece. Write to us at hello@dizor.com.tr.
